Where to Hear Live Music in Jamaica

This is the best pick for regular live music in Ocho Rios, its long-running reputation for Saturday live entertainment has been kept intact through the years.

Ocean’s 11 Watering Hole — waterfront / near Ocho Rios cruise area

Ocean’s 11 has live band on Sundays, Jamaica Night on Mondays, karaoke on Tuesdays, games night on Wednesdays, and after-work parties on Fridays. It is a reliable and more structured place for recurring music/entertainment on the water.

Reggae Kitchen & Lounge — The Fishing Village

This is a casual restaurant/lounge option with authentic Jamaican cuisine and live reggae music. I’d check ahead on their instagram page for the exact live-band night.

Reggae Hill — White River

This is more of a riverside daytime experience than a late-night bar, but you can listen to reggae and dance hall music, enjoy light entertainment, eat, drink,  and spend the day by the river.

Poko Loko Floating Bar — off the coast of Ocho Rios

This is a newer floating entertainment venue rather than a traditional live-band restaurant. Its 8,500 sq. ft. floating bar combines sun, music, food, and culture, with ferry transportation, bar, and kitchen. Their schedule is announced on their website and reservation is mandatory, but it could be a fun music-forward daytime/night outing.

Negril

Alfred’s Ocean Palace — Seven Mile Beach

Seaside restaurant beach bar is a strong option for live reggae shows and authentic Jamaican food. Although they do not operate on a fixed schedule, they often arrange entertainment events.

Drifters Bar & Entertainment Venue — One Mile

Drifters live entertainment runs Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 3–7 pm during November through April with reggae, blues, Motown, soul, and more.

Rick’s Café — West End Cliffs

Rick’s Cafe hosts daily live music all year-round, naturally it’s more crowded and touristy.

Roots Bamboo Beach Resort — Seven Mile Beach

Roots Bamboo is a classic spot for reggae live music. They usually host every Friday night.

Bourbon Beach — Seven Mile Beach

Another beach-party/live-reggae option. Bourbon Beach is the place to go if you are looking for reggae on a Sunday night.

Kingston

Kingston Dub Club — 7B Skyline Drive, Jack’s Hill

This is probably the most important recurring music spot in Jamaica if you care about authentic roots reggae/dub. It runs every Sunday, 8 pm–2 am, with Rockers Sound Station at 7B Skyline Drive.

Dubwise Café — 82 Lady Musgrave Road

Dubwise Cafe lists events every Tuesday and has a good combination of food, live music and atmosphere.

Skyline Levels — Skyline Drive / “Reggae Mountain”

Less of a fixed weekly restaurant night and more of a music/culture complex with an ital restaurant, a bar, film screenings, poetry, and cultural events.

Jamnesia Surf Camp — Bull Bay

Great if you want music plus surf/beach culture rather than a city bar. Every Saturday, Jamnesia hosts live music and art as part of the camp’s creative culture.
