Jamaica’s Most Scenic Rivers to Swim, Raft, and Explore

1. White River — (Saint-Mary) Most variety

White River is the best mix of rainforest scenery and activities. You can do river tubing, bamboo rafting, swimming, ziplining nearby, riverside food stops, and relaxed jungle floating.

2. Rio Nuevo River — (Saint-Mary) More low-key/local

Rio Nuevo is quieter and is more a scenic/local stop, however its splendid clear water will not be left unnoticed.

3. Martha Brae River — (Falmouth) Best bamboo rafting

Martha Brae is one of Jamaica’s most established bamboo rafting experiences. The official rafting operator describes it as a 1 hour 15 minute bamboo rafting experience that has been operating since 1970. If you are looking for a calm and romantic bamboo rafting experience,  this spot is for you.

4. Rio Grande — (Portland) Most impressive

The Rio Grande is Jamaica’s most beautiful and historic river. Its bamboo rafting experience through lush scenery is simply breathtaking.

5. Black River — (Saint-Elizabeth) Great wildlife

Black River is known for mangroves, boat tours and its fauna sightings. Crocodiles, birds and turtles are commonly spotted in that area’s ecosystem.
